The Father of the Modern AR Hunting Cartridge
There’s a whole new generation of AR calibers out there today—like the .22, 6mm, and .338 ARCs—and they definitely do their specific jobs well. But if you trace their lineage back, the 6.5 Grendel is the father of them all. Long before the new stuff came along, the Grendel was the cartridge that originally proved a standard AR-15 platform could be a highly versatile, do-it-all hunting rifle.
Field-Proven Performance
Stretching Your Range: While calibers like the .223, .300 Blackout, and 6.8 SPC usually tap out around 100 to 200 yards on medium game, the Grendel is ethically effective on deer and hogs out past 400 yards.
Ringing Steel: Hitting the range? It’s highly effective on point targets out to 1,000+ yards, carrying vastly more energy and fighting wind drift much better than a standard 5.56 NATO.
Barrel Friendly: It gets its performance from pure ballistic efficiency. It isn’t a super high-pressure, high velocity barrel burner.
Massive Ammo Selection: Factory ammo is easy to find. You can run 90 to 95-grain varmint loads for coyotes, or step up to heavy 123 and 129-grain loads for whitetail and black bear.

Converting Your Standard AR-15
You don’t need to buy a heavy, expensive AR-10 to get true long-range hunting performance. If you already have an AR-15, converting it to 6.5 Grendel is as easy as pushing two pins.
A Drop-In Fit: A complete 6.5 Grendel upper receiver pins directly onto your standard, mil-spec AR-15 lower.
Barrel Options: We build uppers with premium barrels ranging from 16″ for tight blinds and brush, up to 22″ to squeeze out maximum velocity.
A Quick Pro-Tip: A standard mil-spec carbine (C) weight buffer will function just fine, but this caliber really benefits from an H2 buffer. It smooths out the cycle and just makes the rifle shoot better.
