CA Policy
By now we’re all aware of the new California laws pertaining to the shipping of gun parts into the State. The bottom line is the parts aren’t outright banned from import like was done in Washington and Illinois. The California Legislature was more devious. They intentionally wrote the law in such a vague way as to expose not only the receiver but also the shipper of parts to criminal and civil liability. They’ve essentially set a trap. The language was designed to be open to the interpretation of the CA AG and make it easier for that office to attack peaceful citizens. Our understanding is there are only two ways for us to avoid the trap. The first would be to simply cease all shipments to California. That would be the easiest, but is rather distasteful. The second is to only sell and ship firearm parts to an FFL. This is the route we have chosen. Some will argue that there are ways around this while still following the law. They may be right, but the wording of the laws doesn’t leave anyone in this industry with a warm, fuzzy feeling.
So for California customers, FOR NOW, here’s what you need to do: Ask your preferred FFL to set up an account and email us a copy of their Federal Firearms License at sales@grendelhunter.com. Once we have them set up in our system, they can place the order for you.
Notes to California dealers:
We need your billing and shipping address to match the address on your FFL.
Grendel Hunter is a small company and isn’t able to offer our dealers the same generous margins that many of the big companies do. But the dealer discount will hopefully still help ease the burden you folks are going to take on due to these new laws.
