.22 ARC Ballistics Data

All of the data below was gathered by Grendel Hunter staff shooting the various loads in 10+ round strings through a chronograph. The data was then entered into a ballistics calculator to provide us with velocities, energy and trajectories at various ranges. For our calculations we used the following conditions:

Temperature: 59 โ„‰ | Humidity: 50% | Barometric Pressure: 29.9 inHg | Altitude 1,000 FT

    Love it. Shoots great.

Terrific barrel! Took only a little experimenting before it told me what loads it likes. Cleans up easy. I wish there were a +1 or +2 option for the gas port, but time will tell if one is really needed.

Giving 5 stars on customer service. They were nice enough to spend a good deal of time with me on the phone, trying to troubleshoot what turned out to be out of spec parts from a different manufacturer. So far everything I have purchased from Gendel hunter has been exactly in spec.
At this point barrel is also 5 stars. The barrel arrived well packaged. Surface finish is good, no exterior machine marks. Fluting is deep, even, and also free of machine marks. The barrel extension is nicely machined and appears to be deberred on the inside surface of the locking lugs. I’m not seeing any scratches on bullets or cases from hitting the feed ramps/locking lugs. No broken tips on the VT ammo after about 40 rounds.
An initial bore scope showed a cleaned from the factory bore. No chips or junk, the cleanest AR barrel I have seen from the factory. The bore appears pretty smooth. I’m not a machinist but I didn’t see any scrapes/gouges/etc. There was a very slight bur around the gas hole, but nothing to be concerned about and would be smoothed out or removed during break in. I’m using a grendelhunter dlc bolt with this barrel. Lock up is great, very smooth, no hitches or resistentence. I zeroed the rifle with factory Vmatch 62gr. The very first shot deviated about 1.5″ outside of the group, then 8 shots went right into 1″ at 100yrds. I shot one more 8 round group, which also measured right at 1″, and no shift in POI/POA. Subsequent 3 shot groups while zeroing another scope also printed under 1MOA.
At about 85 degrees, velocity has averaged 3174fps over about 20 rounds, with a current lot of factory ammo. This is a 75fps loss compared to a broken-in 24″ nitrided AR barrel, so pretty respectable. I would say, this barrel is an excellent buy, very good value for featues and quality when compared to other off the shelf barrels. When budget allows I’ll be purchasing another.
