AR-15 MLOK Grendel Hunter Handguard
Grendel Hunter handguards are lightweight, ergonomic and rugged. Whether you’re beginning a new build or replacing your current handguard, these are an excellent free floating option. They have MLOK slots along both sides and the bottom which allow you to mount what you want, where you want it. They also feature a top/forward 1913 Picatinny rail section for use with backup iron sights. The patented locking system makes for simple installation and a rock solid platform. The hardware interfaces with the barrel nut to prevent the handguard from walking forward. Unless the hardware is completely removed, it cannot slide off the barrel. Because of the design, no shims, over torqueing or timing of the barrel nut are required. Made in America, by Americans with American metal.

I like this handguard so much I needed to come back for one more review. One point of praise and two points for improvement. I had a problem with MLOK hardware refusing to come off (Magpul must pay the person who pours thread locker on their screws by the ounce) and had to, no joke, get to the point of hitting the accessory in question full force with a hammer several times. After trying to pry it off the handguard with a variety of tools and no small amount of oil, I’ve resorted to drilling the screw. But here’s the thing – the handguard held up to a LOT of abuse. I only see a few marks on the finish. It’s incredible. Other handguards would have been destroyed, honestly, but this thing wasn’t even sweating. A durable option everyone.
However, in later versions of this handguard – a QD socket(s) would be really nice on this handguard and fit very well into the aesthetic. Additionally, while I see the wisdom in not running a full Picatinny rail on top, it would be nice to have MLOK slots on top for accessories (though I’m torn on this one, as the flattop also allows for a nice thumb-over-bore grip). I am using this on a more “tactical” .223 Wylde gun and would have preferred more hardware mounting options.
