At Grendel Hunter, when we think of the .22 ARC, we think of a dedicated AR-15 varmint rifle. A .22 caliber version of the long popular 6.5 Grendel, it gives us high velocities and low recoil in a semi-automatic platform. When Hornady introduced the caliber at SHOT Show in 2024, we began coyote hunting with it. There are bullets and loads that make it useful for medium size game as well, but let’s face it, the .22 ARC shines brightest at night killing coyotes.

With that purpose in mind, Druid Hill Armory has released three different loads with varmint-style bullets. In this post we’ll share the data we collected firing all three loads out of our personal coyote rifles with 20 and 22 inch barrels. The bottom line? They were fast and they were accurate.
